Once, I asked the free wind, blowing over,
"How can I stay young all my days?"
Playing, answered me this timeless rover,
"Just be airy as winds on their ways!"

"What's the greatest precept of the being?"
I asked, farther, the power sea.
The sea answered me, soundly singing,
"Just be full of the sounds like me!"

And I asked sun, the highest and hottest,
"How can I flare up brighter than dawn?"
She was silent this golden-faced goddess,
But my soul heard clearly 'Just burn!'

Einst fragte ich den freien Wind beim Vorüberwehen,
"Wie kann ich für immer jung bleiben?"
Mitten im Spiel antwortete der zeitlose Wanderer,
"Sei Du nur so lebhaft wie die reisenden Winde!“

"Was ist der wichtigste Grundsatz im Leben?"
Fragte ich des Weiteren die mächtige See.
Mit ihrem kräftigen Gesang antwortete die See,
"Tu es mir nur gleich und sei erfüllt von Klängen!“

Schließlich fragte ich die Sonne, die Allerhöchste und
Kraftvollste,
"Wie kann ich heller erbrennen als die Morgenröte?"
Sie blieb stumm, die goldgesichtige Göttin,
Aber meine Seele vernahm es deutlich 'Brenne einfach!'
